“THE Gig Economy”, a showcase of Canberra’s best comedians hosted by Chris Ryan, will be the next act to perform in Canberra Theatre Centre’s Link Bar season. The show features Benny Eggmolesse, Anthony Tomic, Roland Bull, Polly Hemming and Joey Richards in a night of stand-up comedy. Link Bar, Canberra Theatre Centre, 7pm, this Saturday, October 10. MELBOURNE’S National Institute of Circus Arts has turned its pre-audition workshops for entry into the Bachelor of Circus Arts into a live interactive online format, to be live-streamed this Saturday, October 10 from 11am-4pm.

THE second instalment of the virtual event, “Australian True Crime: Live”, will connect fans with interesting people and fascinating true crime stories from the comfort of their living room. “BEFORE hand: The Private Life of a Portrait” is a new exhibition revealing the backstories behind important works from the National Portrait Gallery collection, and the creative and social process of making a portrait. Featuring interviews with artists and sitters, it also has a plethora of rarely seen working drawings, scrapbooks, sketches and footage taken in artists’ studios and on location. “FLORIADE: Reimagined” will celebrate its final day with “Pets’ Day In” at Cockington Green this Sunday, October 11, culminating in “Dogs’ Night Out”, where dogs and their people will be able to stroll around the gardens from 6pm till 8pm. The RSPCA will be on the lookout for the best-dressed dog, longest tail, biggest and smallest dogs and fastest sitter. Book here.

FOUR Winds at Bermagui is hosting pianist Sonja Lifschitz to give two performances of her project “Stalin’s Piano” in the Windsong Pavilion this weekend. Robert Davidson’s original virtuosic score for solo piano melds with orations from the likes of Bertolt Brecht, Goebbels, JFK, Ai Wei Wei, Stalin, Sontag, Gillard and Trump. Barragga Bay, Bermagui.
