THE second monthly LGBTIQ+ Elders Dance Club is coming up at Ainslie Arts Centre, Braddon from 1-3pm this Sunday, November 15. Free event but RSVP recommended here

ANCA’s Mitchell campus will be open to the public for one day only. Visitors can step inside the studios of some of Canberra’s best artists, makers and designers to gain a unique insight into their practices and philosophies. 96 Hoskins St, Mitchell, 10am-4pm, Saturday, November 14, entry free.

TIM Johnson’s recent works, exhibited as “Inter-Are”, will be at Nancy Sever Gallery in Gorman Arts Centre, Cnr Batman St and Currong St, Braddon, Saturday, November 14 to December 20, 11am-5pm, Wednesday to Sunday. The title is explained by the artist: “in most Buddhist teachings, ‘self’ is inter-connected to all things. We ‘inter-are’, a term first used by the Vietnamese monk Thich Nhat Hanh”.

IN The Vines – AiR” is a solo exhibition by Kylie Fogarty at Barton Estate Wines, resulting from a seven-year residency at the estate, during which Fogarty has witnessed the care taken during the viticulture process and also the heartache of an enduring love of the vine, represented in paintings and drawing. CJ SHAW will perform live at Smiths Alternative in Civic in three concerts at 4pm, 6pm and 8pm this Sunday, November 15. Coinciding with the last days of voting for his ARIA Music Teacher of the Year award, CJ has dubbed it the “Video Easy” tour, with 4pm rated G, 6pm rated PG and 8pm rated M. Book here, vote here.

At Wood Works

“FURNITURE Defines Home” is a collection of furniture for the home, expressing the design ethos of each accredited members of Studio Woodworkers Australia, celebrating 10 years since its inception. Opening at Bungendore Wood Works Gallery, 4pm, Saturday, November 14 and will continue until March 30. In attendance will be Geoff Hannah, Silvio Apponyi, Grey Hawk, Will Matthysen, Evan Dunstone, Rolf Barfoed and other designer makers.

“Scorched Corner” is a book of poems written during and after last summer’s devastating fire season by Majura Café Poets, which will be launched at Smiths Alternative, 7pm, Monday, November 16. Proceeds go to Native Animal Rescue Group, a Braidwood community organisation. Book here.

AARWUN Gallery’s Annual Art Auction takes place at 11 Federation Square, Gold Creek, Nicholls this Sunday, November 15, with gallery doors opening at 9am for viewing and bidding starting at 10.30am. Refreshments will be available throughout the day. The catalogue will range from affordable artworks to highly collectable pieces of serious art. AS part of Design Canberra, Toni Hassan and Kirrily Jordan are running “Public Art: Be & Belong”, outdoor activities free to visitors in City Walk over two weekends, November 14-15 and 21-22. Activities include a “people’s weaving academy”, a “kindness café” and “pause chairs” where visitors can stop and let the cares of the world drift away. Matilda House will give the Welcome to Country at 10am, Saturday, November 14.

JENNIFER Brian (baroque flute) and Greta Claringbould (soprano) will join Limestone Consort for a concert of sinfonias, trio sonatas and Vivaldi’s motet “Nulla in Mundo Pax Sincera”. At All Saints, 9-15 Cowper St, Ainslie, 3pm, Sunday, November 15. Book here.
