Government House closes open day

Not this year… Government House cancels its open day.

SATURDAY’S Government House Open Day has been cancelled.

“While current advice relating to the containment of COVID-19 does not dictate the open day had to be cancelled, the office of the official secretary to the Governor-General has determined that it is responsible and prudent to do so at this time,” says a Government House press release.

“This difficult decision reflects that open days can be rescheduled and are held regularly. Making the decision now also provides organisations who would have had displays at the open day, many of whom travel from interstate, with as much notice as possible.

“The Governor-General’s broader program remains unchanged – he will continue to undertake visits, host events and participate in community events.”
