A MAN has been arrested after allegedly travelling to Canberra, from Victoria, on Wednesday (July 15) without an exemption.
The man, a 41-year-old, was arrested in Parkes, ACT, yesterday, at about 11.30am, charged for failing to comply with a Public Health Direction under Section 120(4) of the “Public Health Act 1997″.
“ACT Policing had serious concerns about the significant health risks this particular individual posed to our community by not complying with the health directions,” says commander of the ACT COVID-19 Taskforce, detective superintendent Jason Kennedy.
“We take the safety of the Canberra community seriously, especially those who may be at higher risk of health complications.”
The man will face charges at the ACT Magistrates Court.
ACT Policing says it has now made several COVID-19-related arrests.
