Online sessions help prevent falls

PREVENTION is crucial when it comes to injuries and falls, says Arthritis ACT CEO Rebecca Davey.

“We encourage people to speak to us about preventing injury, as much as [we do for people] dealing with chronic pain,” she says.

“You don’t have to have arthritis to come and see us.”

After taking its offerings online since COVID-19, Arthritis ACT has seen a new cohort of people who are making use of its programs, and Rebecca says they will be able to continue to do so.

“Our yoga classes and sessions that help prevent falls and fractures have been so incredibly popular that we are committed to providing them online, forever,” she says.

“We also have all our education classes online, as well as extended information on chronic pain and a cache of educational seminars.”

Rebecca says Arthritis ACT is thrilled to be reaching so many more people, and that it had long been an intention of the group to provide more of their information online.

“Now people can access us in their own time, and it’s also helpful for those who aren’t keen to come back to face-to-face yet for health reasons,” she says.

“Our experts, including physios, exercise physiologists and therapists, can see clients via telehealth if they prefer [too].”
