Plants, lighting and furniture bring City Walk to life

CITY Walk, between Garema and Ainslie Place, has been transformed with plants, lighting and furniture.

The ACT government-led project, which started in June, is now complete, featuring more than 3000 plants and 560 sq m of lawns, improved lighting and more street furniture.

The makeover comes after City Renewal Authority, last year, asked the community and stakeholders to comment on Civic’s public spaces.

What came from the consultation was a preference for City Walk to be a more attractive destination to spend time in, rather than just a way to get from “A” to “B”.

Following the consultation, the First Nations company, Rork Projects, was commissioned to lead the design and construction of the upgrades, and it’s project manager Nathan Spencer said it was an exciting project to be part of.
