A VICTORIAN man crashed his car after speeding through a border checkpoint on the Monaro Highway yesterday (November 16) morning.
At about 8.30am police stopped a station wagon at the border checkpoint at Rockton.
Police spoke to the driver, a 26-year-old Moe resident, and two passengers, a man and woman, about their permits to enter NSW.
The driver accelerated from the checkpoint leading police on a short chase but officers had to stop the pursuit because of safety reasons.
Not long after the 26-year-old crashed on the side of the road near Jimenbuen.
Both the driver and passengers were arrested and taken to Cooma Police Station where the driver was charged with a string of offences including police pursuit, driving an unregistered, uninsured vehicle and reckless driving.
He will face charges at Queanbeyan Local Court.
The two passengers were released pending further inquiries.
