DYLAN Van Den Berg’s play “Milk,” staged at The Street Theatre in June, has just been shortlisted in the drama section of the Victorian Premier’s Literary Awards, along with plays from Queensland and Victoria. This follows his announcement as winner of the Helen Tsongas Award at the ACT Arts Awards last week.

CANBERRA’S Australian Dance Party has postponed its planned production of “Less”, at Dairy Road, Fyshwick, from the coming weekend until next year.

ACT artists Emma Rani Hodges is one of five artists awarded the 23rd Brett Whiteley Travelling Art Scholarship. The selected young Australian painters aged between 20 and 30 years each receive $10,000 and a two-week residency at Shark Island Kangaroo Valley, NSW. This is the second year that the Brett Whiteley Foundation has extended the scholarship to five artists.

Super Rats

CANBERRA’S hot Romanian-style band Super Rats will give a free concert near the Haig Park Village Markets at 3.30pm on Sunday (December 12). All welcome.

CANBERRA Youth Theatre’s next play, the satirical comedy “Two Twenty Somethings”, by Michael Costi, shows a young couple worried about everything as they make desperate attempt to live the ideal millennial lifestyle. The Courtyard Studio, December 9-14, bookings here.

THE University of Canberra and Belco Arts have announced  four artist residences. Digital Innovation Residencies go to Zhi (Emerging) and Melanie Lane (Mid-Career/Established), while Cross-Sector Engagement Residencies go to Miriam Slater (Emerging) and Kirsten Wehner (MidCareer/Established) and the selected Emerging Creative Producer is Zora Pang. Each artist will have access to staff and facilities at UC and Belconnen Arts Centre and will receive financial support for the duration of their six-month residencies until May 2022.
