Artsday / Portraits of cool cricketers on parade

THE National Portrait Gallery is staging a free virtual highlights tour called “Not Just Cricket”, a look at portraits of cricketers “from the most sun-baked to the cool and quirky” via Zoom from 12.30–1pm on Tuesday, February 2. Bookings essential.  

CAHOOTS is a program for artists and arts producers, run by the “You Are Here” arts organisation, who want to spend a year developing their practice with a small, critical community from diverse art forms and backgrounds, run by creative producers Nick Delatovic and Ketura Budd. They’re looking for eight artists to take part in fortnightly workshops on Monday nights in the Canberra CBD, from April to November and expressions of interest close on February 22.

GEOFF Page’s “Poetry at Smiths 2021” starts on Monday, February 1 from 7pm-9pm with a tribute to the celebrated late poet Rosemary Dobson. Poets Suzanne Edgar, John Foulcher, Owen Bullock and Page himself will read. Smith’s Alternative, 76 Alinga St, Civic (Melbourne Building). Maximum 48 people. Bookings with online payment and cash if the venue’s not full.

AFTER being closed for most of 2020 because of covid restrictions, the Young Music Society’s instrument hire library will be open for business for 2021. To hire an instrument, renew a contract or make an appointment, email admin@youngmusicsociety.org.au
