Traffic may be affected in the area throughout the day, with possible road closures.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible.
Repairs are underway, and are expected to take several hours due to the size and location of the burst water main.
The burst may cause water discolouration in Deakin, Forrest, Parkes, Barton, Narrabundah, Griffith and Kingston.
