MEMBERS of the public detained a man allegedly in the act of stealing a sports bag and a backpack at the Lakeside Leisure Centre in Greenway yesterday afternoon (December 30).
At about 4.40pm, the 34-year-old Oaks Estate man allegedly stole the goods and was detained by staff and bystanders in the centre’s car park until police arrived.
He was arrested and charged with two counts of theft, two counts of ride/drive a motor vehicle without consent, property damage and possession of stolen property.
