A 24-year-old Richardson man, alleged to be driving under the influence of methamphetamine, is in custody and will face the ACT Magistrates Court on Wednesday (December 29) following a police chase of a stolen Kia vehicle in south Canberra.
At 3.30 this afternoon (December 28) police spotted the stolen vehicle driving across multiple footpaths in Gowrie and Waniassa, narrowly missing pedestrians and cyclists.
When cornered by police in a cul-de-sac, the driver accelerated colliding with the patrol car causing the Kia to plunge through a fence and roll multiple times on to its roof.
The 24-year-old was arrested and charged with 11 offences, including driving under the influence of methamphetamine, driving on a suspended licence, driving a motor vehicle at police and damage of a police vehicle.
