Free bus, light rail travel for Christmas Day

CANBERRANS can travel for free on buses and light rail on Christmas Day.

Transport for Canberra says there’ll be some changes to the bus timetables taking place over the holiday period from Monday (December 20) until January 30, and the Sunday bus timetable will run on public holidays.

Light rail services will continue to run to their regular frequency, with a Sunday frequency in place on public holidays and later services on New Year’s Eve.

Transport for Canberra encourages Canberrans to plan ahead and be covid safe when using public transport over the holidays.

“When travelling through the summer holiday period, we recommend planning ahead using the Transport Canberra journey planner,” said Ian McGlinn, Transport Canberra bus operations executive branch manager.

“We continue to ensure all our services are as COVID-safe as possible, with increased cleaning remaining in place and plenty of services supporting social distancing.

“We remind Canberrans to be guided by the health advice by wearing masks on board and using the Check In CBR app every time they travel.”

Updated timetables can be found here.
