Nothing suspicious about Belco explosion, say police

POLICE believe there are no suspicious circumstances in the explosion that destroyed store and other properties in Rae Street, Belconnen on December 27.

Firefighters extinguished blazes in multiple premises and one man was taken to hospital for treatment.

In a press statement tonight (December 29) police say analysis of the scene is complete and the building has been returned to the control of business owners.

“Enquiries are ongoing, and the cause of the explosion is yet to be determined,” the police statement says.

“Police do not believe there are any suspicious circumstances.”
