Occupational therapists make daily living easier

The occupational therapists at Arthritis ACT can “turn life around” for those living with age-related issues, disabilities and medical conditions. This is a sponsored post.

ARTHRITIS ACT CEO Rebecca Davey says their team of occupational therapists can “turn life around” for those living with aged-related issues, disabilities and medical conditions.

Arthritis ACT CEO Rebecca Davey.

“Occupational therapy is really about making the environment work for you,” says Rebecca.

“Our therapists work with you in your space and can modify your home, workspace, vehicle or anywhere that assists in making your day-to-day life easier.

“They’ll write a report, make recommendations and help get funding for important modifications.”

Rebecca says she’s seen many cases where occupational therapy has removed barriers for people so that their condition or disability no longer holds them back from living the best life they can.

“A more obvious example is when someone needs a wheelchair,” she says.

“An occupational therapist can modify a bathroom, make door entries wider, install ramps into your home and much more.

“The goal is to make sure the disability doesn’t interfere with the everyday environment.”

Rebecca says occupational therapists can also help optimise people’s workspaces so that they’re able to work much more effectively.

“They can assist with managing work habits, set up your work area so that it’s perfect for you and have discussions with your employer if you need to break up your day to better manage it,” she says.
