Sixth missed Mr Fluffy asbestos home found in Canberra

ANOTHER Canberra home has been found contaminated with Mr Fluffy asbestos months after the property owners moved in.

Roof covering material with asbestos fibres.

It marks the sixth home missed by asbestos inspections since the introduction of the ACT government’s demolish and buy back scheme of Mr Fluffy affected homes in 2014.

Dean Papas, his wife, and their two-year-old son moved into the home in Reid earlier this year after purchasing it at auction for $1.8 million.

Mr Papas, a builder himself, was conducting a full renovation of the property when one of his workers found the asbestos fibres in the ceiling cavity.

The discovery has renewed calls for property owners to check their homes for asbestos after the ACT Asbestos Response Taskforce acknowledged there might be more undiscovered Mr Fluffy properties throughout the ACT.
