“BACKBONE” is billed as a new kind of circus – “Sexy but sincere. Raw yet utterly disciplined”. It played at the Edinburgh International Arts Festival to a stadium audience of 20,000. The Playhouse, Canberra Theatre Centre, October 13-15.

ITALIAN piano duo, Eleonora Spina and Michele Benignetti, who were to have performed at Wesley Music Centre on October 12 and October 23, have been forced to cancel because of visa problems.

MusicACT is hosting two days of online free workshops to empower female and non-gender conforming musicians run by Melbourne-based social enterprise, Music Production for Women. The event will be held online and will be free for all to attend. Details at  musicproductionforwomen.com

ANU School of Music has a Jazz & Contemporary Voice & Guitar lunchtime concert, Big Band Room, 1-2pm, Thursday, October 13. Free.

THE ANU School of Music’s Chamber Orchestra presents a free end-of-semester concert in the Larry Sitsky Recital Room, ANU School of Music, 6pm, Thursday, October 13.

CANBERRA miniature artist Camelia Smith has a mini solo exhibition of watercolours inspired by the seasons in her garden with Wren’s Neat Studio Gallery of Miniature Art, Fyshwick,  October 11-November 13.

NZ songwriter Don McGlashan

NZ songwriter Don McGlashan, who fronted the Mutton Birds and has worked with Neil Finn and Crowded House, will appear in a concert featuring his latest single, “All The Goodbyes in the World”. Smith’s Alternative, Thursday, October 13.

A NEW group exhibition of pottery showcases the recent works of eight clay workers who are members of the LGBTQIA+ community living and thriving in the Canberra Region. Canberra Potters Gallery, Watson, October 13-November 6.
