Canberra to host 2025 Masters Games

CANBERRA has been named as host of the 2025 Australian Masters Games.

The eight day event will host more than 50 sports and is expected to attract thousands of competitors and spectators to the ACT.

Canberra last held the event in 2003.

“The Confederation of Australian Sport is delighted to see the Australian Masters Games (AMG) back in Canberra for the first time since 2003 when more than 10,000 masters athletes competed,” Confederation of Australian Sport chief executive Rob Bradley said.

“The ACT Government submitted an outstanding bid to host AMG 2025 with an extremely high quality of sporting venues, social and entertainment options and great tourism attractions – Canberra really does present the complete package.”

The Masters Games are open to athletes aged over 30, with some competitors in their 90s participating.

Archery, basketball, boxing, croquet, fencing and figure skating are some of the sports on offer.

The 2023 Masters Games event will be hosted in Adelaide in October.
