A SEA of ochre and black greeted media this morning (May 26) at a dress rehearsal for QL2 Dance’s annual production at The Playhouse, this year titled “Terra Firma”.

On stage were Canberra’s Quantum Leap Dancers, along with members of Newcastle’s catapult youth dance “Flipside Project,” who have joined local youth dancers this year in a triple bill.

First up this morning was “Tides of Time,” choreographed by Stephen and Lilah Gow of Synergy Styles toa pulsating score by QL2 regular composer, Adam Ventura.

There followed the fluid, ever changing moment-work, “Shifting Ground”, choreographed by Cadi McCarthy, now heading up Catapult in Newcastle, but before that, a long-time dance practitioner in Canberra.

All the participating dancers will join together in a third work, “Metal Park,” choreographed by internationally-admired former Canberra dance artist, Melanie Lane.

“Terra Firma”, The Playhouse until May 28.
