Drugs and weapons seized in string of police raids

A WAVE of police raids at homes across Queanbeyan and the ACT yesterday (September 13) uncovered illicit drugs, prohibited weapons and tens of thousands of dollars in cash.

Strike Force Sulfur executed eight search warrants at homes In Queanbeyan, Jerrabomberra and Franklin as part of an ongoing investigation into drug supply throughout the Monaro region.

During the raids police seized cocaine, steroids, testosterone, restricted prescribed substances, electronic devices, prohibited weapons including a .22 calibre firearm, a replica pistol, knuckle dusters and flick knife, as well as outlaw motorcycle gang paraphernalia and almost $70,000 in cash.

Four men were arrested during the search warrants and taken to Queanbeyan Police Station.

They have been charged as part of the ongoing investigation into the alleged commercial supply of cocaine in the area.

One of the men, a 25-year-old, was arrested at a home on O’Sullivan Road, Jerrabomberra and has been charged with nine offences.

A 33-year-old man was arrested at a home on O’Hanlon Street, Queanbeyan and has been charged with six offences.

A 27-year-old and a 37-year-old were also arrested at undisclosed homes in Queanbeyan. They have been charged with 21 and eight offences respectively.

The seized items will undergo further examination.
