Horror crash: two teenage girls dead

TWO teenage girls aged 14 and 15 are dead following a single-vehicle collision this morning (October 9) in the northbound lanes of the Monaro Highway at Hume.

Police have located two other teenagers at their homes, who they believe were also in the vehicle at the time of the crash. They have received medical attention and are assisting investigators from Major Collision Team with their enquiries.

A Toyota sedan left the roadway, crashed through some temporary fencing before colliding with a tree. The girls died at the scene of the crash. The ACT road toll now stands at 14 for the year.

Police don’t have a time of the collision, however they believe it occurred some hours before emergency services were notified by a passer-by.

Anyone who witnessed the car leave the road or who drove past the collision site and saw the vehicle before 8am today should call 1800 333000, or via Crime Stoppers ACT website.
