Democracy sausages to help Ukraine

THE Lions Club of Queanbeyan will hold a “Democracy Sausages for Ukraine” barbecue on election day (May 21).

Max Carrick, vice-president of Lions Club of Queanbeyan, says 100 per cent of proceeds and donations will be given to refugees and displaced persons in Ukraine through Lions Clubs International Foundation.

“We will be joining hundreds, if not thousands, of Lions Clubs around the world in this humanitarian effort,” he says.

Natalie Koval, from Kyiv Lions Club, Ukraine, has put out a statement, saying thank you to all the Lions involved.

“Your noble gesture will go far in history, defining the kind of people you are,” she said.

The barbecue will be held at the St Stephens Church polling station, corner of Lowe and Morisset Street, Queanbeyan, 8.30am-3.30pm.
