Live performance funding gets amped up

FIFTEEN live music and performance venues across Canberra will share in $502,575 from a second round of the ACT government’s “Amp It Up!” funding.

The fund was set up last year to support small to medium sized live venues to recover after the impacts of COVID-19 by offsetting some of the costs associated with performance programming and promotion.

In round one, almost $800,000 was shares to support gigs and help revive the night-time economy across venues including UC Live, Smiths Alternative and Gang Gang Cafe.

Recipients in the “Amp It Up!” round are as follows:

  • Cube Club, $12,125
  • Gang Gang Café and Bar, $38,587
  • Molly, $39,375
  • ONE22, $21,875
  • P.J. O’Reillys Tuggeranong Irish Pub $24,587
  • Queenies at Kingston, $39,375
  • Sideway, $39,375
  • Smith’s Alternative, $39,375
  • The Front Gallery and Café, $27,475
  • The Street Theatre, $39,366
  • Transit Bar, $39,375
  • UC Live, $39,375
  • And Verity Lane Market, $38,806.
