A 28-year-old Franklin man who drove at police during a pursuit has been charged with a string of offences including furious driving.

After police – working within Operation TORIC, – tried to stop and speak to the driver of a white Holden ute about 11.05pm last night (October 13) in Flynn, the man sped away leading police on a pursuit through Flynn and Melba.

During the chase the man drove at police before driving over a tyre deflation device deployed by police.

He was then detected driving at high speeds on the wrong side of Owen Dixon Drive before losing control of the car and colliding with a power pole.

The man was charged with furious driving, failing to stop for police, driving an unregistered vehicle, driving while disqualified, and driving an uninsured motor vehicle.

Operation TORIC has laid more than 200 charges since its inception in August.
