Motorcyclist caught 50 clicks over in peak traffic

The motorcyclist’s speed as logged by a patrol car on Adelaide Avenue.

A MOTORCYCLIST was clocked at more than 50 km/h over the speed limit on Adelaide Avenue during the peak period yesterday morning (November 10).

The 42-year-old rider from Lyons was caught by police at about 9.10am, travelling at 136km/h in the 80km/h zone, and was issued an infringement notice, a $1841 fine and six demerit points.

A/Insp Ken Williams said: “As a motorbike rider myself, I am particularly dismayed that this rider chose to put himself at a very high level of injury or worse by riding at such an excessive speed, on a major road during morning peak time.

“This rider should count himself very lucky that he is only lighter in the wallet, with points on his licence, and not in hospital.”
