New playground opens in Bungendore

A NEW playground funded through a bushfire recovery scheme has opened in Bungendore.

The Adventure Playground – located in the Town Park – has been jointly funded by the NSW and Commonwealth governments contributing $895,370 to the project through the Bushfire Local Economic Recovery Package.

Member for Monaro Nichole Overall said young families now have more options when it comes to local playground facilities.

“Young families had limited options when it came to playgrounds in Bungendore, the only significant playground was an ageing one at Mick Sherd Oval,” Ms Overall said.

“There is no doubt this playground will become a destination for families wanting a day out, or a planned rest spot for those travelling to and from the coast.”

The large rural-theme playground features a climbing and slide area, sand play area, water play area, multi-rocker, a flying fox, climbing nets and swings, mini-bike track, wheelchair accessible spinners, music and nature play.

The space also includes barbecues, shelters and paths, and solar lighting.
