Page teenager on murder charge

POLICE have made another arrest over the shooting death of a 48-year-old man in Phillip last year.

An 18-year-old man from Page was yesterday (June 5) arrested by police and charged with the murder of Glenn Walewicz.

Mr Walewicz was shot and killed at the door of his unit in Phillip in June 2021.

On Saturday (June 4) police arrested and charged a 19-year-old Dunlop man with being an accessory to the murder.

Both arrests follow a year-long investigation into the murder of Mr Walewicz by ACT Policing Homicide Squad detectives.

“To see one person charged with murder and another with being an accessory to the crime is a great result, but there’s certainly more to do,” Detective Inspector Mark Steel said.

“This will hopefully provide some comfort for Mr Walewicz’s family that the detectives are still working hard on this investigation some 12 months on.”

The 18-year-old man will front the ACT Children’s Court today (June 6).
