Police book speeding and drunk drivers

AN 18-year-old P-plate driver has lost his licence after being caught speeding in Aranda.

About 9.45pm on Wednesday (September 14), police were traffic targeting on Caswell Drive, Aranda, when the man was clocked at 137km/h in the 90 km/h zone.

He was issued a $1841 infringement for travelling more than 45km/h over the posted speed limit and six demerit points. As a P-plate driver (four total demerit points), his licence will be suspended.

Meanwhile, last week police stopped a car driving on the wrong side of the road at 10am on Ipswich Street, Fyshwick. The 39-year-old-driver returned a breath reading of 0.183, more than three and a half times the legal limit.

After two recent devastating car accidents involving speeding P Plate Drivers, whereby passengers were killed/injured, perhaps it’s about time the vehicles involving P Platers speeding and driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs should be destroyed. No inference that alcohol/drugs was involved here.
