A CAR being used for burnouts was seized on Saturday night (June 18) after police located a group of 60 vehicles involved in hoon behaviour.

During the night, police received multiple calls about a group of vehicles engaging in burnout and street racing activity.

A group of approximately 60 vehicles was located in Hume where burnout activity was observed by police.

Officers intercepted red Holden Commodore that had been witnessed conducting burnouts in Tralee Street as its driver attempted to flee the scene. Multiple bystanders were present when the vehicle was driven in a dangerous manner.

The vehicle was seized, and the 22-year-old driver will appear in court in July, charged with improper use of a motor vehicle.

Police say they will continue to target hoon driving and anti-social behaviour on ACT roads.

Anyone who has information relating to hoon driving (including dash-cam footage) is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website.
