Police sergeant allegedly spat on following triple arrest

AN ACT watch house sergeant was allegedly spat on by a woman who became violent with police after she was arrested with two others at a house in Pearce yesterday (September 15).

At about 10.30am, police conducting routine patrols located a stolen vehicle at the south Canberra home.

Officers were granted entry by the occupants of the residence and located a 42-year-old man who had breached his bail by failing to return to the Alexander Maconochie Centre.

A 44-year-old woman at the property was also arrested on grounds of a first instant warrant.

The duo barricaded themselves in a bedroom, claiming they were armed. They were arrested after a short negotiation.

Police also arrested 25-year-old man who was found in another room and who was subject to a first instant warrant.

When transported to the watch house, the woman became increasingly agitated and violent before allegedly spitting on the watch house sergeant.

Police say the officer required a new uniform and may be required to undergo testing for communicable diseases.

All three of those arrested face the ACT Magistrates Court today.
