Smoke but no fire at the war memorial

SMOKE has set off the automatic alarm at the War Memorial in Campbell this morning (January 11).

Firefighters have confirmed the source of the smoke was a burnt-out air conditioning fan motor and there was no was no active fire within the building.

All occupants were safely evacuated from the building.

ACTF&R Hazmat crews have cleared the safety of the scene and are handing the building back to Australian War Memorial staff.

The memorial has now reopened.
