Time the bike paths got a trim?

While rain and sun (and some covid restrictions) over summer gave the municipal mowers a very challenging season to keep Canberra tidy and the road verges clear and safe, the season is changing and the rate of grass growing starting to slow. To that end, we’ve had a plea (and a photo) from one energetic “CityNews” reader, who lives and cycles around Belconnen, wondering if it’s time for City Services to devote some effort to mowing the bike paths.

Not sure that I agree with you Ian concerning the lack of mowing this season. Whilst there was a little rain it’s not as if summer was not anticipated! The excuses this year appear a little “off” to me. I wonder if you were to check the contractors and employees engaged on this activities this year as against previous years what you might find. Where we are, we have had marvellous lawn mowing for the last couple of years and then this year it all just stopped??

I saw this and wondered how long it would be until we saw a media release from the ACT Government announcing that it was improving safety by introducing dual carriageways on cycle paths.
