A WOMAN has been treated for serious burns, stab wounds and lacerations after she was allegedly assaulted by a 52-year-old man in the backyard of her Charnwood home last night (September 28).
Police were called to the residence at about 10.40pm after receiving reports of a woman screaming in her backyard.
Passersby called triple zero and reported a woman being assaulted in the rear yard of the house.
Officers were immediately dispatched to the scene where they apprehended a man a short time later.
The ACT Ambulance Service was also called to the house where they treated the woman.
The man has been charged with aggravated intentionally inflicting grievous bodily harm, aggravated use inflammable device (danger to life) and breach of good behaviour obligations.
He is set to appear in the ACT Magistrate’s Court today.
