By aviation writer Scott Mayman

A WOMAN accused of walking on to the tarmac of Canberra airport on Wednesday night and shutting down the airfield, has been granted bail.

She has been released into the custody of a family member while she awaits results of a mental-health examination.

Social media reports suggest the woman missed a flight to Adelaide and went airside without permission. Footage purports to show her walking up to a QantasLink aircraft.

She was taken into custody by federal police and charged with two counts of damaging property. The woman was further charged with entering a security zone without permission as well as possessing a small quantity of cannabis. She will face court at a later date.
