Restoration works commence on the National Carillon

SEVEN months of restoration works have been announced for the National Carillon, by the National Capital Authority (NCA).

The NCA says the restoration works aim to preserve the structural integrity and beauty of the landmark for generations to come.

The scope of the project is set to include specialist facade cleaning, concrete repairs, renewal of external panel joint seals, roof system upgrades, glazing works, and the installation of additional fixings for cladding support.

Duratec Australia has been appointed by the NCA to deliver this project, which is expected to be completed within seven months.

The NCA says the project will take place during the summer months – October 2023 to May 2024 – to avoid weather-related delays.

Queen Elizabeth II Island, and the adjacent car park spaces, will be closed during the restoration works.
