Teen on bail charged with aggravated robbery

A 17-year-old boy from the Tuggeranong region, who was subject to a good behaviour order and also on bail, is facing the ACT Children’s Court in relation to an aggravated robbery in Isabella Plains.

Police allege that at about 2.50am on Saturday, September 3o, the teenager and an accomplice stole a white Mercedes ML350 SUV and an electric bike from a home in Ainslie.

Later that morning, about 7.15am, police further allege the pair committed an aggravated robbery at a supermarket located on Ellerston Avenue, Isabella Plains, threatening staff before making off in the stolen Mercedes with a sum of cash.

The vehicle was subsequently located on fire about 7.45am on Betty Maloney Circuit, Banks.

Following a review of CCTV from both the Ainslie residence and the supermarket, the 17-year-old boy was identified.

He was arrested in Chisholm on Friday afternoon and charged with joint commission aggravated robbery, riding in stolen motor vehicle, joint commission arson, joint commission theft, breach of a good behaviour order and breach of bail.

Investigations into the identity of a second person are ongoing.

What a surprise (not) that he was on a good behaviour bond and on bail! He’ll no doubt be out on bail again soon to repeat the behaviour! What is wrong with the youth justice system? It’s certainly not working here or anywhere else in the country by the sound of it.
