Boy arrested with replica gun and cash

A 16-year-old boy has been charged with weapons offences and a breach of bail following an incident in Kingston on Sunday afternoon.

Police responded to reports a person was riding a motorbike on the footpath near Wentworth Avenue in Kingston. A 16-year-old boy was found pushing a blue and white motorbike. Police also discovered he was carrying a replica handgun and about $4000 in cash.

He was arrested and, police say, a subsequent search of the boy’s home found a ballistic vest and items believed to be illicit drugs.

He was charged with possession of property suspected to be the proceeds of crime, unauthorised possession of a prohibited firearm, weapon possession and breach of bail. Inquiries are continuing and further charges may be laid.

“…..and breach of bail.” It seems breach of bail is always included in the list of charges these days. No doubt he’ll be out on bail again too. Maybe it’s time to reconsider bail in many of these cases.

Maybe Australia’s wokest and apparently most violent jail, the AMC, is full?

Or perhaps the courts think it’s too unsafe to send criminals there, but perfectly ok to let them out on bail to run riot on the streets of Canberra where you never see a police patrol car, and citizens have to do their own crime reports online because the police are too few and won’t leave their offices.

The woke policies of ACT Labor and Greens probably doesn’t give the police much inspiration or incentive either.
