ACT Parks and Conservation Service fire managers will conduct prescribed hazard-reduction burns in the Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve on Saturday and on Sunday at Bruce Ridge Nature Reserve and warn that temporary smoke cover my be visible across parts of Canberra.

Minor smoke and glowing embers may be seen at these sites. The public is asked not to call emergency triple-zero unless ta fire is unattended.

Prescribed burns are an important part of the ACT’s annual Bushfire Operations Plan to enhance ecological quality and reduce the risk of bushfires.

The government says crews will be on the ground monitoring and patrolling the prescribed burns to their conclusions.

Here is the location map of the burn sites.

Yes, it’s visible and we know the reason so don’t worry about it. It is good to know why some of us suddenly have breathing problems and sore eyes, but so glad it’s much less than during the fires of 2019-2020.

We don’t need smoke pollution for asthmatics. The particulates contribute to lung cancer amongst other undesirables.

Yes, many of us suffer Evie, but what alternative do you suggest? For me it’s stay inside and mask up when outside, as we know the burning off needs to be done. If you have another solution, many of us would like to hear it.
