It would be funny if your were silly enough to believe the government was actually trying to tackle the cost of living. They are probably getting the bigger laugh out of fooling people that is what they are trying to do. Case in point is the heralded wages growth to tackle the problem. Sadly wages growth is countered by the fact that part of the cost of living is paying for other peoples wages. On top of that, people not in the wages market, welfare and retirees, are worse off. Double whammy for retirees as they are also living longer so they need better returns on their saving, aka higher interest rates. Either that or they’ll end up of welfare sooner with the welfare budget already being increased to address the increase cost of living. Maybe you should have a cartoon pointing out how dumb all the political commentators are who keep just reporting what the government says as though it means something.
