Two years on, Jyle’s death still a mystery

Jyle Molloy… killed walking along Pialligo Avenue two years ago.

The death of 28-year-old Queanbeyan man Jyle Molloy on Pialligo Avenue two years ago today is still under investigation.

At about 11pm on February 27 2022, Jyle walking along Pialligo Avenue when he was struck and killed by a vehicle heading towards Queanbeyan.

Police have confirmed he had been picked up by a dark-coloured sedan while he was on Morshead Drive sometime before 11pm. Soon after, Jyle exited this vehicle and was walking.

A review of CCTV footage also identified a white Toyota 4WD in the area.

Senior Constable Will Stevenson, of the Major Collision Team, said police believe there were people in the community with light to shed on Jyle’s death.

“Jyle was a much loved and loving member of our community, and it is important that we discover what happened to him that night two years ago,” he said.

“Any information, no matter how big or small, could be the piece that we need to ultimately discover what happened to Jyle.”

In a statement, Jyle’s family said: “We love Jyle beyond measure and miss him endlessly. As a family, we struggle through each day, heavily grieving the loss of Jyle. Our hearts will forever ache for our son, brother, uncle, partner, and missing piece of our family.

“Due to this heinous act, our family will never be the same. We know someone out there knows something – please do the right thing and speak up. Please help our broken family bring Jyle the justice he deserves.”
