A 17-year-old boy is facing the ACT Childrens Court after allegedly striking a woman with a machete at the SouthPoint shopping centre in Greenway on Monday evening.
Police allege that a group of teenagers got into a verbal altercation with a woman in Big W at about 6pm where the boy pulled a machete from his pants and threatened to kill the woman before striking her on the arm with it, causing bruising.
The teens fled and police were called.
Late Tuesday afternoon police arrested the alleged offender in Chisholm and charged him with making a reckless threat to kill a person, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and possessing an offensive weapon with intent.
