ACT sportsgrounds to close for two-weeks

ACT Government turf sportsgrounds will be closed until April 1.

Most ACT Government turf sportsgrounds will close for two weeks from Wednesday as they are prepared for the winter sports season.

The closure will run from March 18 to March 31, with grounds reopening on April 1.

Maintenance will include installing goal posts, line marking and upgrades to grass surfaces such as top dressing and fertilising.

ACT Sport and Recreation Facilities director Luke Halpin said the annual maintenance period was timed to coincide with the transition between summer and winter sporting codes.

Some turf grounds will remain open to allow limited training and matches, with maintenance scheduled for a later date.

Synthetic fields at Nicholls, Holt, Pearce and Phillip will remain open throughout the closure.

Other turf fields below will also remain open:

In addition, the following grounds will also remain open for competition match play only (not for training or trial matches): Charnwood District Playing Fields, Hawker District Playing Fields (Number 1) and one field at Kambah District Playing Fields (Number 201).
