A 19-year-old Gilmore man has had his vehicle seized and provisional licence suspended after been caught driving at 198kmh in Fyshwick early on Thursday morning.
Police say that at about 12.20am, a silver Honda Legend sedan travelling southbound on the Monaro Highway towards Fyshwick was detected by radar to be travelling at 198kmh in a 90kmh zone.

Screening tests revealed the P-plater was not impaired by drugs or alcohol. Police say that when asked about his extreme speed, the man told officers he was just “being silly”.
His younger brother was also in the vehicle at the time of the incident.
The Honda Legend sedan was seized and the man was issued with an immediate suspension notice, suspending his ACT driver’s licence for 180 days. Further action to his dangerous driving will be taken.
