Drivers in Canberra are being warned to expect traffic disruptions through to Monday night during a visit by Danish royals King Frederik and Queen Mary.

Police say delays may occur until 8pm Monday on roads to and from Canberra Airport and in areas around Yarralumla, Deakin and Parliament House.

People travelling to Canberra Airport on Sunday afternoon and Monday evening are being urged to allow extra time to reach their flights due to potential traffic delays.

Police said officers will be managing motorcades and traffic in affected areas.
