Woman arrested over child-abuse material

A 45-year-old Melba woman has been arrested for allegedly accessing child-abuse material on a work computer.

The woman’s employer reported to police on Friday that she had allegedly accessed text-based stories depicting underage characters involved in sexual exploitation.

Investigators from the Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Team searched the woman’s Melba home on Sunday afternoon.

Police say three mobile phones, a laptop and a hard drive containing child-abuse material were seized from the woman’s home.

The woman was charged with using a carriage service for child-abuse material and possessing/controlling child-abuse material using a carriage service.

Further forensic examination of the seized devices is ongoing and may result in additional charges.
