IN “Excusez-Moi?”, now showing in M16 Artspace’s Gallery 2, artists Belle Palmer and Tom Buckland have created a crazy installation to reflect moments of their past, by suspending over a thousand household objects.
Taps, keys, spoons, knives, light fittings and metal things of all sorts appear frozen in time, inviting the viewer to immerse themselves in a sensory experience.
The idea is to seek comfort in the uncomfortable, a metaphor, they say, for those moments in which we succeed to control our own “inner saboteurs”.
On the lighter side, Buckland and Palmer have enticed local musicians, Joel Macbeth and Marlene Pringle Radice, to play the rhythm of “Memory Cavity: self-destruction” alongside of their own unique wind sounds in a kind of wind-up party at the gallery.
“Excusez-Moi?” closing event, 21 Blaxland Crescent Griffith, 2pm Sunday, June 9, all welcome. M16 is open Wednesday to Sunday, noon -5pm.
