TWO Canberra women are finalists in the 2019 Australian Conceptual Photography Prize, a new competition being conducted by the Australian Photographic Society, and are in the running to win the $10,000 cash prize.
The two Canberra finalists are Judy Parker and Lenuta Quraishi. Both are members of the Canberra Photographic Society and have prints in an exhibition at Telstra Tower. Parker also has her first solo exhibition at the CSIRO Discovery Centre.
Quraishi’s finalist image “Artist Selfie” is an observation on space, while Parker’s image, “Shadow Play”, plays with light and shadow profiles in a “tapestry” effect.
The winner will be announced on July 4 at the opening of an exhibition of the finalists’ works at Magnet Gallery, Wharf Street, Docklands, Melbourne.
