A 35-year-old man has been charged after two alleged assaults during a disturbance in Belconnen on Sunday night.
Police said they were called to a Belconnen residence about 8.40pm following reports of a disturbance.
They will allege the man became aggressive during an argument inside the home and assaulted his partner.
A short time later, police received multiple Triple Zero calls reporting an assault outside a nearby townhouse.
Police allege the man assaulted a neighbour who attempted to assist, causing serious facial injuries.
The injured man was taken to The Canberra Hospital for treatment.
Officers arrived a short time later and arrested the 35-year-old man.
He is charged with aggravated assault occasioning actual bodily harm (family violence) and recklessly inflicting grievous bodily harm.
