A 27-year-old man has been charged after allegedly threatening his former partner with a meat cleaver while she was sitting in her car in Theodore.
Police allege the man had earlier punched, strangled and threatened her during incidents earlier this week.
He was arrested at a Theodore residence on Friday.
The man has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault occasioning actual bodily harm, possessing an offensive weapon with intent, aggravated choking a person rendering them insensible, aggravated intentional threat to kill and breaching a bail condition not to approach his former partner.
In a separate matter, a 51-year-old man has been extradited from NSW after police alleged he punched and headbutted his partner while they were staying at a Canberra hotel in October.
An arrest warrant was issued and the man was located in Yass last week before being extradited to the ACT on Friday.
He has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault occasioning actual bodily harm and contravening a family violence order.
