A 20-year-old man has been charged following an investigation into the discovery of a hidden recording device in a shared bathroom at a residential facility in north Canberra.
On Saturday morning staff and a resident at the facility found a device concealed inside a soap dispenser in a communal bathroom.
Police were called and a person of interest identified.
Police searched the man’s accommodation, electronic devices, and vehicle, seizing items for further examination.
Police allege that an analysis of a memory card linked to the device revealed a significant volume of stored imagery.
The man was arrested and charged with five counts of intimate observations involving the capture of visual data.
